Brewery started a journey with a passion for British-style brewing, which led to commission  brewery from a UK manufacturer. Thanks to a strong recommendation from Kelham Island Brewery in Sheffield, we connected with Mr. Vincent Johnson of Johnson Brewing Design. Despite his thick Northern accent, Vincent’s extensive knowledge of beer and brewing was invaluable. Our brewery was crafted in Bury, Lancashire (famous for black pudding) in 2012. Vincent himself came over late that year to weld the pipework and get our brewery up and running. Our first brew, “Big V Amber,” named in his honor, has since become a staple at Freewheel. Originally founded by four friends, the brewery underwent a significant transition in 2023 when new ownership took over with a vision to improve and expand our unique and delicious offerings.
